STEMM Diversity @ McGill

STEMM Diversity @ McGill is a student run initiative promoting women and underrepresented groups in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math and medicine). This program exists in two parts: an online website housed on a touch screen in the Redpath Museum, and a colouring and activity book that I wrote and illustrated.

Website

Our website features interviews with underrepresented groups in STEMM, asking about their research, stories and struggles.

Colouring and Activity Book

This colouring and activity book features "draw yourself as a scientist" activities, as well as activities based on the research of famous women and minorities in STEMM. The book exists in English and French. So far, over 1000 copies have been distributed, for free, to schools, libraries, museums, and special events! The entire book was written, illustrated, and conceived of, by me. If you or your institution would like some books, email me!

Herpetologist's League Diversity and Inclusion Committee

This committee was formed in reaction to the rampant sexism and discrimination apparent in the field of herpetology. It aims to increase the visibility of underrepresented groups in herpetology and highlight their achievements through the Herpetologist Highlights series, where members are asked to share their stories. The committee also aims to make herpetology a more inclusive field by implementing strict accountability practices at conferences, encouraging safe spaces, and organizing the HERper symposium at the annual Joint Meeting of Herpetologists and Ichthyology.
